The Daily Fandom (TDF) is a non-profit-styled website, in which we (since we are a family/team, not a singular individual) strive for independence from traditional subjects. We enjoy discussing and diving into deep analysis of fandom and fandom-life; much of which can be (is) considered trivial by others.
Year-round we have internships available for all who aspire to write, no matter the age, style, range, person, or idea. (We simply do not do politics, as that is a realm of its own.) If you have wanted to write for TDF, please keep in mind that this is unpaid. We have festivals, conventions, screeners, ARCs, and numerous other opportunities available, but not monetary. It is more so because we exist as a platform that does not use ads. The Daily Fandom, as a website, does not want the reading experience to be riddled with ads that you have to toggle off, cookies that are being traced, or any pop-ups that would derail the reading experience.
We aspire to bring you content without the tedious ads — that is why it is unpaid. Yes, with ads, anyone can have a paid experience. Still, some of them are illegal (the intricacies are complex), or they sell the user experience for cookies and data, or it forces the reader into an uncomfortable position with having to accept in order to even read!
We know that internships are challenging; they are unpaid, and in this post-pandemic world, we need money; that is why it is volunteer-based. You are not bound to a contract. You can leave when you see fit, but there is a five to six-month (a semester) length for those who want the undivided experience.
We fully understand the variety of circumstances that may prevent you from participating, but it is available whenever you are ready.
About
We accept internships, college credit, or high school credit (yup, we have had a few)! We will try and work with any form of internship. However, if you are here for fun, you are more than welcome, too! There is no age limit; we welcome anyone who is open to absorbing writing advice.
The internship would entail writing or editing, but rarely, if at all, both; there are writing internships and editorial internships. As an editor, you are able to write. As a writer, you are not able to edit. (It keeps things organized and less crossover.) If you come on as a writer, you typically cannot switch between roles unless it is a rare case spoken with the CEO beforehand. This also allows for more people to be accepted at The Daily Fandom on a rolling basis and stick to what they want to build upon.
