From October 13th to October 20th, 2022, The Daily Fandom will be remotely attending the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival 2022 (#BHFF22). As attendees of previous BHFF festivals including NIGHTSTREAM, it has been our pleasure to attend BHFF in some capacity over the past few years and this year included. This is our first year participating in Presented by Shudder Brooklyn Horror Film Fest remotely, and we’re looking forward to seeing some incredible horror and thriller films and shorts. At this year’s festival, the first feature to be screened was the exceptional horror anthology SINPHONY, which was gathered together by many directors and upcoming filmmakers who appreciate the craft of horror.
This anthology was completely created on the social media platform Clubhouse; it is both an impressive piece of work as a whole as well as an extraordinary accomplishment for each director and writer. (( Jason Ragosta; Steven Keller; Haley Bishop; Sebastien Bazile; Nichole Carson; Wes Driver; Kimberley Elizabeth; Michael Galvan; Mark A. Pritchard; Jason Wilkinson. ))
For the sake of not ruining the excitement of the anthology, we can only say that each piece explores a different aspect of society and the way in which horror relates to it. In the age of social media, our lives are characterized by the unknown, the lurking, the terrifying, and the demonic, and SINPHONY takes advantage of this fact. It is remarkable how SINPONY has created something so hyperpostmodern and horrifying.
SINPHONY: “A Clubhouse Horror Anthology”
The story of SINPHONY encompasses many elements of horror, but ghosts, witches, parasites, and demons could be considered to be the most prominent characters. The anthology contains nine segments, each of which contains a cohesive story leading to a chilling conclusion.
The concept and idea were born from the app Clubhouse as mentioned previously and introduces a stellar group of horror talent who should and will become household horror names. In addition to the effective directing, the cinematography is haunting, and, most importantly, the new-age approach to horror is always a blast to watch (specifically, the Tik Tok short… you have to see it to appreciate it).
#BHFF: Sinphony 2022
“Ghosts, witches, parasites, and more populate the nine segments in this ambitious and uniquely conceived anthology. Born out of the social audio app Clubhouse, SINPHONY introduces a new crop of horror filmmakers who pack as much energy and unpredictability as possible into their respective shorts, resulting in a lively omnibus that never lets up.”

The Tales Of The Crypt: SINPHONY At #BHFF2022
A horror anthology is a truly entertaining form of film; the concept of combining several short stories into one is so cleverly crafted that it provides a captivating experience. It is exciting to see several stories woven together in a full-feature film, rather than just watching a short film (which is also fantastic).
The millennial flair of SINPHONY is evident from the very first line of the opening vignette, “Mom Is a Werewolf In A Witch Coven,” (our title, not theirs); it was an incredibly clever way to kick off the story, and the beginning of this anthology sets it apart from the others. It utilizes social media and technology in a compelling way, with references to The Craft (1996), Teen Wolf (1985), and Jennifer’s Body (2009). I am also a sucker for masked killers (Scream (1996)). The color palette is beautiful, the constricting hallway shots are great, and it gives a haunting feel as the story unfolds. A magnific feature within SINPHONY.
Among the stories in this collection are tales of Tik Tok demons, spirits, hauntings, and other phenomena that keep us awake at night. Not only does the opening short provide a glimpse into what the feature film includes, but the remainder also elevates horror in a stunning manner. The filmmakers have created individuality throughout SINPHONY; each story differs while remaining similar at the same time. The medley of occult tales is woven into a coherent narrative.
There are two tales in the film — about a child demon vampire and a motherhood story — that will scare you just as it did us. But we will not spoil it as that is what makes this adventure so exciting. It is without a doubt, however, that each short in SINPHONY is terrifying in its own way.
Watch at your own risk.
