In a recent interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Lady Gaga expressed her desire for “simple messaging that is kind or thought-provoking.” (( Lady Gaga; Apple Music, Source: Youtube )) through Chromatica. Lady Gaga, American singer, songwriter, philanthropist, and actress, has released five albums thus far, Chromatica being her sixth release. Gaga seems to be returning to her dance-pop/electronic roots after the sights and sounds of her current singles, “Stupid Love” and “Rain On Me.”
Gaga’s Chromatica promotional photos and teasers have been well received by fans thus far as the record is sure to remain signature to her original style, encompassing sounds and melodies that will compliment Gaga’s current messaging and how she has purified it for the state of today’s world. Adding the disco-tech-like, yet futuristic trance-pop ambiance, we are ready to hear what Lady Gaga and her main producer, BloodPop created in translation to her story over the years, ultimately culminating with her new album, Chromatica.
Song 9: Not Some Plastic Doll
Stefani Germanotta, better known by her stage name, Lady Gaga, has remained true to herself throughout her career despite occasional backlash and criticism from some media outlets, as she struggled early on in her career to finding her way. She is a trans-formative pop-culture icon that has evolved over the years while maintaining her core fanbase. Every album has had a different tone, yet still encapsulates the same message: be kind to one another and love yourself for who you are. However, even with her strong and empowering message, she has struggled behind the scenes.
Gaga said she never felt pretty enough, and created her on-stage persona with make-up and outlandish costumes. Her early albums shot Gaga to fame, revealing her as one of the most influential voices in pop.
Beauty is inside of you and its what you project, not what society’s idea of beauty is.

Song 6: Having Fun Tonight
After nineties-Britney, we were missing and needed a new pop star. Gaga came for a win with her twenty-first-century electro-pop single, “Just Dance” of The Fame. The tune featured an exuberant and catchy electronic beat that had raw and honest lyrics along with an unforgettable melody that empowered us all.
“Just Dance, gonna be okay..” In interviews, her makeup and avaunt-gourde clothing choices continued to shock us all. Her cheery personality, with a little bit of a ‘different, weird, funky temperament’ drew us in even closer, on our journey to discovering, just who is Lady Gaga? She followed “Just Dance” with more chart-topping singles, “Lovegame,” “Paparazzi,” and “Bad Romance” which truly sounded of Gaga blossoming as a one-of-a-kind icon.
This first record set a space aside for her domination as the world’s number one pop star. Yet, not only is Gaga musically gifted and has been able to translate her own wisdom and grief into music; she also continuously gifts her community of Little Monster fanbase as she has from day one. Gaga has been an advocate for LGBTQ rights and almost always electrifies an awareness of mental health amongst the world.
Song 5: A Truly Free Woman
The euro-disco theatrical record, Born This Way premiered with a totally different sound than her previous five albums. It was essentially full of goth power-ballads that told the tale, express your truth and inner freedom. Gaga did not hold back in this era; she dressed in leather straps and spikes and sung of love, sexual freedom, and glory in the epic trance-dance-deep-intense synth soundtrack.
The music videos continued to pave the way for the rest of the world for pop culture, with phenomenal cinematography and appeal. It truly seemed like she was just being her everyday self, while the album became her most revolutionary yet.
Song 10: Chewing On Sour Candy
Artpop literally translated into a merging of art and pop by Gaga. The album was wild and experimental. It was loved by fans and poorly received by critics. Lady Gaga has essentially said she wanted fans to let go of all perceptions of her music. Lyrics like “Free my mind… Artpop” and “Artpop could mean anything.” The fusion of art and pop with EDM sounds may have been “ahead of its time”-(( Lady Gaga; Apple Music, Source: YouTube )). The release of the album came after Lady Gaga broke her hip while on stage during a tour for “Born This Way.” Gaga recalls waking up after surgery and seeing her team of people closest to her absence.
Shortly after, she fired her manager, describing her relationship with him as ‘mismanagement’ and she was left to clean up the mess that she was too sick and tired to resolve. Her label management was not aware of what was going on. Many people that surrounded her during that period of time wanted more, not just the millions, describing it as ‘not enough’, solely seeing her as a performer, using her for personal gain. She later wrote ARTPOP during her time of healing and saw it as a chance for fans to realize and discover the art all around them.
Song 2: Was It Alice Or Joanne
In 2016, Lady Gaga collaborated with producer Mark Ronson for “Joanne.” It was a totally different take than the predecessors, a modern fusion of country-dance-pop and soft rock. The record was dedicated to her late aunt, Joanne.
It was an emotional tribute that incorporated Gaga’s voice with plenty of piano and guitar. The lyrics and music were intended to have a “healing effect with those dealing with loss and pain.” (( Lady Gaga, Source: Google )) Lyrics like “Girl, where do you think you’re goin’…” and “Hear my sinner’s prayer… I am what I am..” were intimate ballads that allowed Gaga to really connect with fans.
Song 16: Coming to Babylon
The album title, Chromatica, is a symbol that has a sine wave in it, the mathematical symbol for sound, where the sound originates. The meaning behind the album is to be with “simple messaging that is kind of thought-provoking’’ (( Lady Gaga; Apple Music, Source: Youtube )) promoting a sharing or caring experience for listeners, as this album was ultimately a huge source of therapy and healing for her. In an interview with Apple Music, she describes the album as something she wrote intensely and instantly; first writing on the piano and later using computers and midi machines that created inversions of the original sound.
Gaga has always written her music and this time she tells her story saying “Chromatica is a beautiful extraction of my perception of the world.” (( Lady Gaga; Apple Music, Source: Youtube )). Lyrics from the songs we are sure to love:
“This is the dance floor I fought for…”
“I walk the downtown, hear my sound”
These will surely connect with her loyal fanbase, the Little Monsters, with understated reflections of her identity and genius. Kindness is king and love is pure.
