While you help work at one of the hotel’s VIP parties, you end up in some mishap that causes you to break a priceless statue that was meant to be sold at the hotel’s secret black-market auction. Instead of the statue, you are put up for auction, and thus you meet the owner of the hotel, Eisuke Ichinomiya, and the other bad boy auction managers.

You can play nine different routes, from pursuing the mafia leader Soryu Oh to the cunning art thief Baba Mitsunari. However, Eisuke is the main route that fans seem to adore. Voltage Inc’s popular bad boy Eisuke is head of Japan’s top corporation, the Ichnimoyia group, so he’s a cold-hearted CEO with money to burn. Of course, he’s not all bad as he shows the player a charming soft side that you just can’t help but fall for his confidence and cocky attitude. If you like the type with a cold-heart but soft center, definitely play Eisuke’s route as it is full of many emotional ups and downs that leave you wanting more.

God Of Scorpio — “Star Crossed Myth”

In “Star Crossed Myth,” you play as a normal girl who works at a planetarium; it turns out that you’re the reincarnation of a goddess. Each of the different gods of zodiacs have been punished and sent to earth with a mark of sin; they capture you in hopes that you’re able to abolish their sins. “Star Crossed Myth” is one of Voltage Inc’s best titles as there are 12 different routes to play, each god based on different zodiac signs. Scorpio, the god of Scorpio, is one of the most popular routes to play from this title.

Scorpio works for the department of punishments, where he makes sure humans are punished for their sins on earth. He absolutely hates humans, but as he forces you to help him abolish his mark of sin, he slowly starts to fall in love with you. In anime, one of the more popular character troupes is a tsundere, a more hostile and aggressive character but who actually has a warm and friendly side. Scorpio here is definitely a textbook tsundere character, which is a part of his charm. If you’ve dated any Scorpios in the past, you’re bound to fall for this sassy god.

Kazuomi Shido — “Masquerade Kiss”

In “Masquerade Kiss,” you play as an EAC (Edmund and Company) agent who has to go undercover to take down bad guys. In this case, you’re sent to unmask the resort CEO Kazuomi Shido for being a part of a drug trafficking ring. Falling in love is the last option you want because if your identity as a spy/agent is revealed, you’ll be killed. Voltage Inc only has 4 other routes you can play on “Masquerade Kiss,” but Kazumoi’s is hands down one of the best ones.

Much like Eisuke, Kazuomi is also a cocky CEO; the main difference between the two is Kazuomi isn’t as cold as Eisuke. In fact, he’s actually a huge flirt and womanizer. The dynamic between the main character, which is you, and Kazuomi is very exciting to watch as they have a cat and mouse type of banter. The tension of trying not to reveal your identity becomes harder and harder once you actually start to fall for Kazuomi, and it leaves you hanging on the edge of every chapter. Toshiki Kasumi — “Romance MD: Always On Call”

“Romance MD: Always On Call” follows the story of you trying to follow your dreams as an orthopedic surgeon. You are hired at this famous ICU full of the world’s top doctors, and of course, they’re handsome along with being talented. You try your best to keep up and fit in as a doctor, along with all the hotties in the ICU. If you’re a big Grey’s Anatomy fan, then you’ll definitely fall in love with all the routes in this story. Dr. Kasumi is Voltage Inc’s newest translated route added to the story, and this one is a tear-jerker, so grab your tissues.

Dr. Kasumi is the chief of medicine and head cardiovascular surgeon in the ICU. Even though you want to study orthopedics, Kasumi decides to take you on as an apprentice and teach you about cardiovascular surgery. Since Kasumi is the ICU chief, most of the other doctors call him a cold-hearted demon lord, and other nurses even say he’s “Dr. Untouchable.” But behind his icy demeanor lies a sad and tragic backstory. Kasumi’s route is heart-wrenching, and it’s hard not to fall for his good looks and kind heart. If you’re in the mood to cry, definitely check out Dr. Kasumi’s route.

With quarantine and being stuck inside all day, most people have found a lot of comfort in visual novels or otome games. Voltage Inc is definitely an underrated and underappreciated company since their stories really are good enough to have their own anime. But for now, you can read through many different stories with a diverse cast of pretty-boy archetypes.

Other popular otome games have broken through the mold and found popularity through social media, but now should be Voltage’s time to shine since they’re adding more titles to the Nintendo Switch.
