The Cila tribe of 'Survivor" season fifty.

Everything You Need To Know About The Contestants Of ‘Survivor Fifty: In The Hands Of The Fans’ (2026)

The reality competition series, Survivor (2000-), showcases average Americans deserted on an island where they must fight to survive both the elements and their competitors. Survivor (2000-) has been airing for twenty-six years, creating the demand for fresh seasons with fresh ideas to satisfy its audience. Having reached its monumental fiftieth season, Survivor Fifty: In The Hands Of The Fans (2026), promises to do just that.

“20 castaways, 39 days, 1 survivor.” — Jeff Probst

A very common twist amongst the series has also been the reintroduction of former players/winners. Whether it be a season full of returning members or having a few sprinkled in among a new group of castaways, fans have loved seeing their favorites back on the island, and it always seems to rejuvenate the series in the midst of repetition. The fiftieth season falls firmly into the latter category, pitting fan favorite against fan favorite in a season full of familiar faces.

Legacy Players For A Legacy Season

Every player who has been asked back for this legacy season has a reason for being here. Whether it be their strategic play in previous seasons, or simply that they are adored among the Survivor (2000-) community, they are here to defend or rewrite their legacy.

Twenty-four veteran castaways, the most competitors in Survivor (2000-) history, are back for another shot at the million dollars. Some are prior winners, some made unforgettable moves or demonstrated unmatched strength and skill, and some were just simply well-liked amongst the fans. No matter their status, they all have a motive for coming back, meaning none of them can be counted out of the fight.

The show’s mantra: “Outwit, Outplay, Outlast” encompasses what it takes to be the sole survivor. The balance between mental agility, physical toughness, and social charm in challenges and at camp is the key to winning, and the players brought back excel at at least one of these styles.1

Outwit

By dictionary definition, to outwit is to get the better of by superior cleverness, otherwise known as outsmarting. Arguably, having brain power could be the most productive strategy — whether it comes to solving puzzles, manipulating your counterparts, or stealth with immunity idols, thinking quickly and strategically will get you far in a game that’s just as mentally taxing as physically. 2

Aubry Braco

Aubry started her Survivor (2000-) journey as a part of the Brains tribe of season thirty-two: Brains Vs Brawns Vs Beauty (2016). Despite an unstable start, Aubry quickly became a strategic force, dictating many of the tribe’s votes. Building connections was huge for Aubry’s game. Relationships can take you all the way to the end in a game like Survivor (2000-) if you make the right ones. Aubry was able to pull in and convince Tai Trang to align with her and flip on his original alliance after the merge, which ended up buying her a spot at Final Tribal Council, where she placed second.

Her return on Survivor: Game Changers (2017) secured her legacy as a standout player in the game, but her ability to manage personalities, and place herself accordingly amongst them, proved threatening enough for her tribe mates to blindside her at the first Tribal Council of Survivor: Edge of Extinction (2019). It’s been six years since that devastating elimination, but she has been given another chance, leaving fans wondering if Survivor Fifty (2026) will be her redemption, or if she will continue her downward spiral.3

Charlie Davis

Charlie Davis made a powerful alliance on his season — Survivor Forty-Six (2024) — placing him in a position to control many of the season’s eliminations — three of which ended with the victims leaving with an idol in their pocket. He chose to ditch his alliance, believing that he and his partner played too similarly, and that he’d have better odds of making it to the end on his own. He secured a place in the final three, where he laid out his strategic game to the jury, but ultimately, that betrayal of his alliance came back to haunt him, and he didn’t receive her vote or the million dollars.

Charlie is known for being Survivor’s biggest Taylor Swift fan, and competitors who fail to work with him might find more trouble than just some “Bad Blood” between them this season. Placing second is enough to fuel Charlie for this next season, but his trust in alliances may create an obstacle on the way to first. 4

Christian Hubicki

Christian came onto David Vs. Goliath (2018) with a friendly and funny personality, although he was labeled a “weak link” in challenges early on. Christian was quick to redeem himself with his masterful puzzle skills, and through success with multiple hidden immunity idols and an individual immunity win, he made it to the final seven.

Christian Hubicki. Survivor 37: David vs Goliath. 2021.

Christian had the most elimination votes in a season in all of Survivor (2000-) history. But despite his eighteen votes, he outlasted most of his competitors with the help of immunity idols. In one notable instance of determination, in a challenge titled Uncomfortably Numb, where castaways are required to remain standing on a narrow perch while holding a handle above their heads, around five and a half hours in, Christian asked to tell a story to distract himself, but in turn irritated his competitor to the point of dropping out. A smart and funny man who has no lack of brain power would surely be someone to have on your side in a strategic game like Survivor (2000-).5

Genevieve Mushaluk

Genevieve demonstrated her strategic prowess early in the game by forming a truce with her arch-nemesis, so together they could blindside another player. Despite considering herself friendly and easy to get along with, she quickly struggled to find the trust of her alliances, doing everything she believed necessary to get her as far into the game as possible. Her lack of strong connections was her downfall in forty-seven, but if she can manage to form the right alliances, with her strategic strength, she could become one of the biggest threats for the season.6

Kamilla Karthigesu

Kamilla’s unassuming stature allowed her to fly under the radar a little bit, but her secret alliance with Kyle Frasser and her strategic strength brought her to the final four, where she was only eliminated after falling short in the fire-making challenge. Despite her loss, her cutthroat attitude is sure to label her a threat. In a season forty-eight interview, Kamilla stated, “My favorite thing to do on Survivor (2000-) is just pick a person, don’t give them any heads-up, run them over with a bus, back up, run them over again; that’s just what I’ve been doing out here, and it’s fun.”

Kamila was most notable for her secret alliance that got her very far in the games, but in the end her torch was snuffed.
Kamilla Karthigesu. Survivor 48. 2025.

Small, but fierce, Kamilla is an inspiration. She set out on Survivor Forty-Eight (2025) to represent brown girls well, and the strength she presented in her first season, along with her revival for Survivor Fifty (2026), is sure to create that example.7

Rick Devens

Rick Devans is definitely well-rounded when it comes to traits helpful in the game of Survivor (2000-) — he’s smart, crafty, sociable. He was well-liked, proven by his spot amongst a strong alliance, however, when his alliance fell apart post-merge, he was quickly eliminated, being sent to the Edge of Extinction. There, he won a re-entry duel, bringing him back into the game. Vowing to play more aggressively, he went on to win numerous Immunity Challenges and find multiple Hidden Immunity Idols, aiding him in evading elimination. He was crafty, creating two fake idols that he hid for other tribe members to find, and he only fell to the fire-making challenge in the final four. Rick was a major threat in season thirty-eight, and he will still be a threat in season fifty.8

Kyle Fraser

The Sole Survivor of season forty-eight, Kyle Fraser, made it to the end with his secret alliance from day one, Kamilla Karthigesu. After the merge, Kyle was integrated into another alliance because of his appealing athleticism. Kyle used his alliance with Kamilla and took out his other alliance from the inside, but mutually agreeing that the two couldn’t sit at Final Tribal next to one another, they amicably dissolved their alliance. Kyle won the immunity challenge, landing him the final seat, where his ability to compete in challenges, along with strategic foresight, made Kyle the best fit to win, according to the jury.

Kyle Fraser was the other half of Kamila's alliance, but he was able to pull off the win at Final Tribal Council.
Kyle Fraser. Survivor 48. 2025.

Personable and strategically gifted, there’s a strong chance he’ll have endless options of castaways wanting to ally with him. However, Kyle stated wanting to play more cutthroat this time around, a side of him that fans have yet to see, which is sure to make for an interesting season.9

Outplay

Physical strength is extremely valuable in a game like Survivor (2000-), but unlike smarts, physical nature is much harder to hide. Pre-merge, having the biggest and strongest members on your tribe is ideal, but as soon as it becomes an individual game, the strongest players often have a major target on their back. Strength wins many challenges, so as long as they can win individual immunity, they’re safe in the game. One wrong move, thought, and they’re often on the chopping block.

Colby Donaldson

Colby Donaldson was the first ‘hero’ of Survivor (2000-), well-regarded for his strength and winning streak in challenges during the show’s second season. However, his subsequent seasons were a bit of a letdown. In Survivor: Heroes Vs Villains (2010), he was even likened to a “Superman in a fat suit” by one of his fellow tribe members — and long-time idolizer — for his weak performances in challenges. After sixteen years, Donaldson is returning to the beach for a chance at redemption; will he prove the challenge competitor he once was, or will his age and time away from the game put him at a disadvantage?10

Joe Hunter

Joe Hunter was one of the strongest players on season forty-eight, but besides his physicality, he also preached a code of honor and integrity. In a game like Survivor (2000-), it is almost completely inevitable that there will be lies and deceit, but Joe stuck to his word, and with the help of his strong alliance, he was never on the chopping block. Ultimately, he ended as the second runner-up, falling short to the alliance of Kyle Frazer and Kamilla Karthigesu, two more returning players for Survivor Fifty (2026).

Joe was inspired to audition for the show because his sister was a huge fan. Her death and becoming a father have evidently played a major role in how he has taken on Survivor (2000-). Whether or not the game relies on lying as a part of getting yourself further, Joe has never strayed from his honor. He took on a more paternal role with Eva Erickson, a young woman with Autism, and their alliance lasted all the way to the end, cementing his character.11

Jonathan Young

Jonathan Young is considered one of the most dominant challenge players in series history by host Jeff Probst. His ability to not only provide for his tribe in terms of challenges, but also in food and materials for survival, kept him safe from elimination for a good portion of the season, but when it came to the merge, his condescending tone was not making any friends.

Jonathan Young proving his strength by carrying a log on his shoulder.
Jonathan Young. Survivor 42. 2022.

Jonathan considers his gameplay most similar to Ozzy Lusth. Both players have been major providers because of their strength and skill set when it comes to surviving the elements. Ozzy will also be on the island for this legacy season, so it’ll be interesting to see how the two compare side-by-side and whose strategy will ultimately keep them in the game longer.12

Ozzy Lusth

Ozzy is one of the most remembered players of the show. His speed and strength in challenges were unmatched, and when it came to camp life, Ozzy was renowned for his ability to provide for the tribe. In his first season, Survivor: Cook Islands (2006), Ozzy immediately landed towards the bottom, but after becoming a core member of the Aitu Four and winning five of six individual immunity challenges after the merge, he found himself sitting at the Final Tribal Council. While praised for his strength, his ally, Yul Kwon, was awarded the victory for his mental game.13

'Challenge Beast' Ozzy Lusth.
Ozzy Lusth. Survivor 34: Game Changers. 2017.

If Survivor (2000-) were solely a physical game, Ozzy probably could have won four times over, but apart from how taxing the physical challenges are, there is still the social aspect, which can be equally as tough. Ozzy definitely learned to improve in the latter, but the threat he poses in individual challenges has proven time and time again to be too big a target on his back. It will surely take a lot of effort to keep himself in the game, but anything is possible on Survivor Fifty (2026), which could be Ozzy’s only chance to win the million.

Dee Valladares

At just twenty-six years old, Dee became the Sole Survivor of season forty-five. Her gameplay could be described as conservative but dominant. Winning three individual immunity challenges and building an impenetrable alliance of four in her Reba tribe, Dee displayed strong social and physical skills, placing her somewhere between wanting her on your team and wanting her out of the game early on.

Dee Valladares, Sole Survivor of season forty-five.
Dee Valladares. Survivor 45. 2023.

Her motivations for playing the game are heartwarming. As the child of an immigrant, whose parents left everything in Cuba so that she could live out her dreams, she wants to set them up for the rest of their lives, repaying them for all they have given her. She vocalized her desire to “live a rare life, surrounded by rare individuals.” To do so, she has to subject herself to situations unfamiliar to her, like Survivor (2000-). Her determination, along with her empathy and compassion, definitely grasps the hearts of fans, but will it have the same effect on members of the jury if she lasts that long?14

Savannah Louie

The second returning castaway from season forty-nine, Savannah Louie, was actually the winner of said season. Fresh off a win and having only nine days at home before returning to Fiji for season fifty, Savannah could either have a major advantage over those who haven’t competed in years, or exhaustion and/or adrenaline could set in, leading to mistakes.

Savannah Louie. Survivor 49. 2025.

Whether or not she reveals that she won the season, or four Individual Immunity Challenges (tied for the most wins by a female in the game), could be make or break for Savannah’s second season. The Immunity Necklace constantly in her possession after The Merge was key to her seat in the end, but she’ll have little control over the game when relying on a team. Will she get a chance to prove her strength, or will her uncertain identity lead tribe members to cast her away quickly?

Stephanie LaGrossa Kendrick

Stephanie LaGrossa Kendrick. Survivor 11. 2005.

Stephanie is one of Survivor’s (2000-) most memorable and well-liked players for her strength in challenges and social compatibility. Growing up with three older brothers, Steph was no stranger to competition. She had her shoulder dislocated in the first challenge of Survivor: Heroes Vs Villains (2010), but after having it quickly relocated, she was back in the game with a vengeance. Her resilience, strength, and social game brought her far in both her prior seasons, but never to being the Sole Survivor. Steph surely has the support of the fans, who admire her honest and smart playing, but only time will tell how the fellow castaways will perceive her gameplay. 15

Chrissy Hofbeck

Chrissy was one of the few women to win four individual immunity challenges, proving to be a competitor despite being one of the older castaways. When her alliance fractured, Chrissy could only rely on herself to make it to the end. She won four Individual Immunity Challenges, keeping her in the game, and when it came down to the final four challenge, Chrissy played through what would later be diagnosed as a broken leg, ultimately winning her second place at Final Tribal. A resilient woman and mother, Chrissy used the challenges she faced outside of the game as motivation, and she’s sure to do it again.16

Outlast

The social game is just as important as strength and intelligence. Often, the castaways that aren’t the most outspoken, nor the most competitive, are discredited when they make it far in the game. But who you align yourself with, how and when you say and do certain things, could very well be enough to take them there. Social skills are really what could win you the game or cost you the game when it comes to the Final Tribal Council. The physical displays are easy to pick out for the jurors, but it is how finalists moved outside of challenges, navigating secrets, keeping alliances, and coordinating blindsides — those are the assets that set the winner apart.

Angelina Keely

Angelina was on Survivor Thirty-Seven: David Vs Goliath (2018). After a comfortable start on the Goliath tribe, Angelina — according to her tribe-mates — lacked subtlety and self-awareness when it came to the tribe switch. She did end up making it to Final Tribal Council, but the melodramatic game she played did little to sway the jurors to vote in her favor.

Angelina Keely in 'Survivor 37' originally a part of the Goliath tribe.
Angelina Keely. Survivor 37: David vs Goliath. 2018.

Her political prowess and persuasive powers were beneficial in her previous season, famously negotiating with the host, Jeff Probst, when she realized the tribes’ rice supply was running low. She gave up her shot at immunity to provide for the group — a point she was sure to emphasize when appealing to the jury in the end. This rather irked the jury, adding to the reasons why she didn’t garner any votes, landing in third place. Her longevity may be seen as a threat, but will her personality mesh with her new tribe, or will it be her downfall once again?17

Benjamin “Coach” Wade

The self-proclaimed “Dragon Slayer” is back for his fourth season of Survivor (2000-). Despite already owning the nickname “Coach” for being a women’s soccer coach, the new nickname came as no surprise to anyone because of Coach’s notorious zen meditations and other esoteric hobbies that have followed him to the beach.

Coach as the 'Dragon Slayer' of 'Survivor: Tocantins.
Benjamin “Coach” Wade. Survivor 18. 2026.

In each of his seasons, fellow tribe members found Coach to be rather annoying for his reciting of quotes and heavy spiritual convictions, yet his alliances often kept him close to power. He acted as a trustworthy member of the tribe, but was often caught in his lies, landing him amongst the Villains tribe in Survivor: Heroes Vs Villains (2010). By his third season, he reckoned with his past mistakes and made a more convincing display of honorability, but at the Final Tribal Council, he failed to own up to his decisions, ultimately costing him the million dollars.18

Cirie Fields

Cirie is arguably the most legendary player in history. After competing and coming short in five seasons, Cirie has gained a reputation for her social and observational skills and resilience. One of her strongest moments was leading the “Black Widow Brigade.” Season sixteen ended with a strong female four alliance between Parvati Shallow, Amanda Kimmel, and Natalie Bolton, when they convinced Erik Reichenbach to give up his individual immunity to save Natalie — possibly the dumbest decision in the history of the game.

Cirie Fields, the player who has played the most, yet has never one a season.
Cirie Fields. Survivor 50: In the hands of the fans. 2026.

After five seasons, and incredible strategy and game play, Cirie still has not won a season of Survivor (2000-). Since being on the show, she has won season one of Traitors (2023-), furthering her reputation as a talented game player. Obviously, this places a massive target on her back, but after five seasons, she has plenty of allies accompanying her on the Survivor Fifty (2026) journey, so will that be enough to finally bring her a win in this game?19

Emily Flippen

Emily was in the same season as Dee, and at one point was aligned with her core-four alliance. Originally a member of the Lulu tribe, Emily was seen as abrasive, putting her on the outs with her fellow tribe members. But, as soon as she found an ally, she quickly took control of her tribe, making it to the merge, which allowed her to integrate into the Reba Four. This was a strength for a while, but her failure to break away caused her to be sent home as collateral damage.

Emily Flippen. Season 45. 2023.

But Emily is back for season fifty, and she is not shy about what makes her different from everyone else in the game. She’s not athletic, she doesn’t like the outdoors, she can be seen as off-putting, but that’s what will allow her to fly under the radar. That wasn’t so much the case in her first season, but will this time around be any different?20

Jenna Lewis-Dougherty

Jenna Lewis-Dougherty is the only returning member from the first-ever season of Survivor (2000). When confronted by the assumption that her purpose on Survivor Fifty (2026) was to be the ‘token’ player from Survivor One (2000), Jenna is only more motivated to prove everyone wrong. In her first season, Jenna is most remembered for being the only castaway who did not receive a video message from her family. After twenty-three days apart from her daughters and witnessing the joy the videos brought her tribe mates, Jenna was crushed. Emotional tolls like this definitely can take away from your game, but Jenna persisted, taking on the fishing for camp and working her way into an alliance that took her to the final eight.

Jenna Lewis Dougherty competing in the first ever season of 'Survivor.'
Jenna Lewis-Dougherty. Survivor 1. 2000.

On Survivor: All Stars (2004), Jenna ran the show. Throughout all the switching of tribes Jenna was put through, she continued to maintain strong alliances, one of which got her all the way to the final three. However, after losing the immunity challenge, her fate was in the hands of Rob Mariano, who chose to vote her out on the basis that she would garner more of the jury votes over him. She knows she has the power of manipulation and persuasion, but she wants to prove she has the physical capabilities as well in this next go-around. In the same position as Colby Donaldson, though, will she get that chance?21

Mike White

Mike White will be the oldest castaway on season fifty. Thirteen seasons have elapsed since Mike’s first season, and in his time away from the Survivor (2000-) island, he’s been taken to many other islands for his TV series The White Lotus (2021-), where some of his former castaways have made guest appearances.

Mike White
Mike White. Survivor 37: David vs Goliath. 2021.

On David Vs. Goliath (2021), Mike played a relatively low-key game, expertly managing his threat level. He aligned himself with strong alliances, helping coordinate numerous blindsides, one of which was Christian Hubicki, another season fifty returnee. On day thirty-eight, Mike won the fire-making challenge, but when it came to jury votes, his strategic game was considered weaker than competitor Nick Wilson.

Bringing a whole new fan base to Survivor (2000-) with The White Lotus (2021-), Mike surely has the support of many fans, but after his role in multiple prior blindsides, it’s uncertain whether he’ll have the same support from fellow castaways.22

Q Burdette

Q is perhaps most famously remembered for being used as a smokescreen, which allowed for the coordination of three blindsides, all of which resulted in victims leaving with an idol in their pocket. After having a tantrum at Tribal Council, Q was outcast from his tribe, but in realizing that they could use him as a distraction, he quickly regained his position amongst his peers. That is, until they used the same deception on him, and his torch was snuffed while he had his own idol still in his pocket.

The very outspoken Q, a once trustworthy ally, turned domineering leader.
Q Burdette. Season 46. 2024.

Surely eager to erase the image of his previous exit, Q is returning with a clear goal in mind. Avoiding blindsides is a challenging feat, but it’s doubtful that Q will be caught holding back from playing an idol at Tribal Council.23

Rizo Velovic

Rizo is one of two competitors from season forty-nine, the only season that had not aired before season fifty’s filming. None of the other castaways has any information on what went down on the most recent season, making those two returnees perhaps the most threatening of all.

Rizo Velovic, pursuing the title of "greatest player of all time."
Rizo Velovic. Survivor 49. 2025.

Self-proclaimed “Riz-God,” Rizo made it to the final four by being very transparent about the hidden immunity he had. Wearing it around his neck at Tribal Council, his competitors were constantly reminded of the power he held by being able to play his idol at any moment. His selective honesty was helpful last time, so it’ll be interesting to see what tactics he reveals this time around.

Tiffany Ervin

Tiffany was caught by surprise after her alliance with fellow returnee, Q Burdette, went south; safe to say that Tiffany will not be replenishing an alliance with Q in the upcoming season. Amongst this list of castaways, Tiffany most likely falls somewhere further down when it comes to threat level. While nothing monumental is tied to Tiffany’s name from her season, she can never be counted out. In fact, she stated having a manipulation plan in place, compiled from her observations of her previous season.

Tiffany Ervin getting her torch snuffed on season forty-six.
Tiffany Ervin. Survivor 46. 2024.

“Fact-checking” and using information accordingly could be the strategic move that Tiffany needs to excel. Everyone loves the story of an underdog, and with Tiffany maintaining a little bit of a low profile, she could surely have her moment to make Survivor (2000-) history.2425

Surprise Appearances: By The Fans For The Fans

Survivor (2000-) promised a new era of the game with the start of its forty-first season. Subtracting thirteen of the original thirty-nine days of the game and adding booby-trapped advantages and other unique twists were a start; however, the new formula stuck for all nine seasons of the forties, becoming repetitive, yet still fairly enjoyable. But Survivor Fifty needed to be bigger than recycled challenges and anticipated hidden immunity idols.

Zac Brown of Zac Brown Band to. be a special guest on 'Survivor Fifty.'
CBS. Survivor Fifty: In the hands of the fans. 2026.

Promotional videos have suggested the special appearances of celebrities like Mr. Beast, Zac Brown, and Jimmy Fallon. There’s also news of a Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol. Billie Eilish has shared her love of the show, so petitioning for her own idol in the new season is just another way for the fans to be in control in a season tailored for them.

Since there is nothing definitive on who might appear, possible guests bring an element of surprise and unpredictability to keep cast and fans alike on their toes and glued to the season. What the celebrities will bring to the table is anyone’s guess, but they all have a love for the game and are sure to come in with a bang.26

A Final Note

The game is changing once again, but those most familiar with recent twists are likely to adapt better to what awaits them on the island. Twenty-four castaways, a mix of both old-school and the new generation, twenty-six days, and fans desperate for a legendary season, but some things never change: there can only be one Survivor.
